Student Chapter

The University of Central Florida student chapter was established in 1972 and has been active throughout the years. The chapter aims to enhance the personal and professional development of engineering students by providing hands on learning experiences, technical tours and seminars, as well as community outreach events. The UCF student chapter is able to create well-rounded individuals through: leadership, industry exposure, competitions, networking opportunities, and community service events. It is our mission to recognize the correlation between classroom teachings and real world practices as well as prepare our students for a career in the engineering field.

About UCF Student Chapter

The American Society of Civil Engineers Chapter at the University of Central Florida is the largest engineering organization on campus. Our main goal is to ensure that our club properly prepares students for their professional careers.  As Civil Engineers we understand that our mission is to make the world a better place. Last year alone our members logged over 500 community service hours! This year we plan to continue with our high level of community involvement.

ASCE is best known for our involvement in engineering competitions. Every year, we attend the Southeast Student Conference that hosts over fifteen universities. ASCE students spend months creating team projects to enter in the competition. The members are responsible for every aspect of their project including fund-raising, design, construction, presentation, and management. In order to further develop our members we have several events and competitions we participate in. In the past, we have won numerous awards in the various competitions. UCF’s chapter has qualified at the Southeast Student Regional Steel Bridge Competition to continue on to the Steel Bridge National Competition where they competed at the highest stage. Considering the intense level of competition between the universities, winning at the Regional or National level is an incredible honor.

An integral mission of the student chapter is to foster activities, apart from engineering competitions and projects, that are beneficial to the surrounding community. For several years, we have volunteered for events that include STEM outreach to younger students. Currently, ASCE strives to carry on the successful endeavors of past members, incorporating innovative projects and activities that fulfill ASCE’s objectives.
